Through his career Tiger Woods has owned Akron, Ohio.
And the world's greatest golfer is back in the city this week for another World Golf Championship event at Firestone Country Club where has won seven titles.
Woods, a keen student of golf history, should be buoyed by that. But the same should have been said for The Masters (Augusta), U.S. Open (Pebble Beach) and British Open (St. Andrews) where he could not get a win this year despite playing courses that have previously been in his real estate portfolio.
For Woods it isn't about the No. 1 ranking in the world. That is math. Tiger is concerned about golf and that means victories -- this week and then next week at the PGA Championship.
The golfer, who we all claimed would never take his eye off the prize, says that family issues like spending time with his two children is taking priority.
"I've been through periods like this before," Woods said about going seven starts without a victory this year. "I just have to keep being patient, keep working, keep building, and keep putting the pieces together, and when they do come, when they do fall into place, that's usually when I will win a few tournaments. I'm starting to put the pieces together of late, and I'm very excited about that."
If he's excited shouldn't we also be giddy? Woods is talking the talk. Will he be walking the (champion's) walk in August?
